Jungle Is Alive & The Magic Shell

Jungle has been facilitating the Muizenberg Performing Arts Club from the start of this year for children aged between 9 - 13 years from diverse backgrounds. This project is kindly funded by The Rolf Stephan Nussbaum Foundation. The Foundation, set up by Rolf-Stephan Nussbaum to manage philanthropic giving, is a living charitable trust that supports arts and culture, sports, building projects and libraries. During the sessions, facilitated by Jungle’s Artistic Director Vincent Meyburgh and theatre maker Ntombifuthi Mkhasibe, assisted by Naledi Tlailane, the children explore all aspects of creating and performing the Jungle style of theatre based on African folktales. Throughout the year the children were introduced to storytelling; mime and music; the use of masks and dance. This final and fourth term will see the children bringing it all together for a public performance at the Masque Theatre, Muizenberg on Wednesday 29 November 2017. This event is open to the public (RSVP by 24 Nov) and will be MC-ed by George Mkhululi Smith from the Blacksmith Entertainment Company. At this event, which is scheduled to start at 5pm, Jungle will also perform a preview of their show The Magic Shell. The Magic Shell is interactive storytelling theatre for young children and their families. It illustrates the value of..
